Wildlife in the Area
North Yorkshires valley slopes and woodland areas, along with its clear water
streams offer very unique and specialist habitats. The fact
that the well-drained chalk soil enables various plants to flourish
only adds to the amount of wildlife that live here. Various
types of birds can be found on Humble Bee Farm, including the
Grey Partridge. Looking slightly further a field to the Wolds,
you will find the Skylark. It is a difficult bird to see as
it generally rises vertically to great heights but it is easy
to hear as it has a very distinctive song. The most commonly
seen bird of prey is the hovering Kestrel but Buzzards and Sparrow
Hawks are not uncommon. If you want to see more birds then why
not visit the local bird watching spots including, Filey Brigg
and Flamborough Head.
Butterflies are also frequently seen wildlife in this area and species include Orange Tip, Common Rock Rose, Clustered Bellflower and Red Poppy. Other animals that you might find are Roe Deer, Rabbits, Fox and Hare
