The Peak District National Park was the first National Park to be established in Britain (in 1951) and acted as a prototype for many others in other countries.

The Peak District contains two distinct areas, characterised by the different type of rock found in each. Rivendale lies in the heart of the White Peak, so-called because of the white limestone from which the dramatic cliffs, gorges and hills of this region have been forged.

Rivendale lies in the heart of The White Peak, within the Peak District National Park, Derbyshire, England. The caravan park is approximately equidistant from the towns of Ashbourne, Buxton and Bakewell, surrounded by beautiful countryside, within walking distance of Dove, Biggin, Alsop and Eaton Dales.

Visitors unfamiliar with the area will be amazed at the diversity of things to do and see - from some of the UK's finest stately homes to the industrial past of the Derwent Valley Textile Industry (now a World Heritage Site) the theme parks at Matlock Bathand Alton Towers, Opera and Arts Festivals at Buxton, and the wide range of outdoor pursuits - from climbing and caving to hang-gliding and hot air ballooning.

The caravan park benefits from an elevated position on a ridge separating Dove Dale and Biggin Dale from Eaton and Alsop Dale - providing the perfect location from which to explore the beautiful scenery of all four dales on footpaths running directly from the park.

The Tissington, High Peak and Manifold cycle trails lie within 100 yards and a few miles respectively of Rivendale providing the perfect means to explore the area by bike on easy gradients, without traffic hazards.
