We started our journey
north at around 6.30. am, I must admit to being apprehensive
as it had been a long time since making this very journey, our
last visit was 35 years ago way back in 1968, in those earlier
days the journey North then was via an infamous road known as
Shap with a Vauxhall Victor. Not only was this our first return
to The Highlands and Morayshire, but we were also about to meet
certain people for the first time, I need not have worried, the
road north was a joy to make, it was a good sunny day, fantastic
scenery often grandeur, having met up with Hazel, Clive, Ron,
Margaret, Norman and Joan we were soon chatting much like old
friends do. Thank you all for making this a memorable trip.

Anyone going north to Scotland
need have no fears on making the journey, we traveled north via
M6, A74, M74, A80, A9, and not once were we held up by road works
or anything else to spoil a journey of this nature. The journey
was a joy to make with great roads and stopping off points with
such varied scenery It was hard to take it all in, the A9 to
Inverness was a joy to travel passing towns such as Pitlochry,
Newtonmore and Kingussie to name a few, nor will we forget the
breathtaking views at Blair Atholl. As we came up on Aviemore
you could not but gasp at the sheer magnificence that are The
Cairngorms, Once here a visit by the funicular railway to Ptarmigan
is a must. The views from the top will long stay in your memory

Soon we entered Forres and
headed west along the A96 we quickly came upon The Old Mill and
its caravan park our home for the next 10 days, The exterior
was much as I remembered which was heart-warming it was a little
like coming home, but the park had altered a lot over the years
from a simple tent field, to tarmac roads throughout with night
lights, static caravans and a charming touring field, with an
abundance of flowers everywhere, The toilet block decked out
with flower arrangements also had loads of literature and even
games to borrow. On meeting Hazel and Clive, Ron and Margaret
we knew we were going to enjoy our stay. We did
