Tavistock
Clovelly

Clovelly’s ancient Devon heritage is enriched by its own unique ingredients of traffic free cobbled streets, donkeys and sledges, and flower strewn cottages tumbling down a 400 foot cliff.

This intriguing and intimate house is crowded with a lifetime of treasures amassed by the well-travelled Miss Rosalie Chichester, including model ships, costumes, pewter and exotic shells. In the ‘bat cave’ you can watch Devon’s largest colony of Lesser Horseshoe bats, and in the stables is one of the finest collections of carriages and horse-drawn vehicles in the country.

Dingles Steam Village - Milford Lifton, Devon
Nestling in the peaceful West Devon Countryside, but just one mile from the main A30, is Dingles Steam Village, a unique example of steam heritage at work, which started from Richard's, the owner, interest in the history of R. Dingle & Sons, the premier supplier of steam and later modern road making equipment. Many of the exhibits were sold by his father in the 50's and 60's for £100 and bought back for many thousands and then rebuilt.

Dartmouth Castle

This well-preserved and beautifully sited castle juts out into the narrow entrance of the Dart Estuary. Begun in the late 14th century, a defence called 'the Fortalice' was intended to protect the homes of Dartmouth merchants from shipborne attack. By 1491 it had been reinforced by a gun tower, probably the very first fortification in England purpose-built to mount heavy cannon.
