Historic York is only 8 miles away providing a host of attractions and the opportunity to shop 'til you drop during the day and dine out or party at night. There’s plenty to do whatever time of year you visit.

Spend some time in historic York. Steeped
in history, the Jorvik Viking Museum will transport you back in time. The medieval
walls lead you to the world famous York Minster - step back in time with a walk down the famous Shambles (probably one of Englands most famous streets) - take a river trip or visit the National Railway museum.

Riding stables are popular around the area and you will find indoor go-karting at Monks Cross. Further afield a trip to Xscape will brush up on your winter sports on the indoor real snow ski slope and ice rink or test your nerve on the large variety of rides on offer at Flamingoland and Lightwater valley fun parks.

Whether you are coming for a short break or longer, Griffon Forest Holiday Lodges have all you need for a perfect stay. You can simply unwind in the comfort of your own lodge or use it as a base for days out with your family to visit historic York, the Yorkshire Dales, Moors and the beaches of the Yorkshire coastline.
