Although not quite an island, the area enjoyed a reputation as a self reliant and egalitarian community, providing more master mariners for its size than any other locality in Ireland. This sense of history is treasured and guarded by the local communities who are fiercely proud of their seafaring and farming traditions.
The friendliness of its inhabitants along with a high standard of accommodation and natural attractions, makes Islandmagee an ideal destination for a holiday , short break or simply a day trip to explore the splendours of 'The Island'.
Local amenities include bus route, grocery shop and pub within 1/4 mile and the local town, Whitehead within 2 miles (butcher, bakery, greengrocer, library, health centre)
