Addlethorpe Golf Club: Situated just a mile off the A52 within Addlethorpe village. The course was constructed roughly five years ago on the existing farmland and enjoys lush, versant soil.
The course itself is quite challenging and will provide a superb test of golf for the inspired single handicapper while not being too demanding for the lesser player who's just out for a bit of fun.
Situated just on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, there are, naturally, wonderful views of the local countryside and, from certain vantage points, of further beyond. The course measures just over 6,400-yards and has a rather unique par of 74. A few water hazards come into play now and then so you'll need to be wary of club selection.

Fowlmere is one of the southernmost villages in Cambridgeshire. It is next to the RSPB Nature Reserve, very close to the Imperial War Museum, Duxford and only nine miles from the historic city of Cambridge. Fowlmere boasts two public houses, one with its own restaurant and a post office stores selling food, confectionery and newspapers.
|
 |
The village is steeped in history and has
an ancient landmark called the
'Round Moat' - the remains of an early
Saxon settlement where villagers lived
and kept livestock in the safety of a
moated enclosure. The Domesday survey records the name of the village as
Fuglemaere, which is translated as the
lake of the fowls. Fowlmere has a long association with aviation.
During the Battle of Britain the RAF used
the fields of Manor Farm as an airfield
and in 1943 it was expanded to become
a USA Air Force station and was used
by the 339th Fighter Group flying P51 Mustangs.
|
A memorial stone, next to the footpath to the Nature Reserve has been erected
to commemorate this turbulent period of Fowlmere's history
This is also an ideal base when visiting the Imperial War Museum - Duxford
A former Battle of Britain fighter station, the museum is now home to the largest collection of military and civil aircraft in Europe. Duxford retains its wartime atmosphere and, as many of its aeroplanes still fly, you might even see one take to the air during a visit. Over 400,000 visitors come to Duxford annually and see biplanes, Spitfires, Concorde and Gulf War jets among the 180 historic aircraft on show.
