Touring Parks in Cornwall Page Eight

A click on the park name will take you to the main web site.

Magor Farm Campsite
Magor Downs, Tehidy, Camborne, TR14 0JF
Tel: Illogan (01209) 713367

Welcome to Magor Farm Campsite in Tehidy just on the outskirts of Camborne in Corwall. We welcome caravans, tourers and tents to our quiet, tree-lined field situated just below Magor Farm, farmed by our family since the 50's.

The quiet hamlet of Tehidy makes an ideal base for holidaymakers, surfers and walkers exploring the south west of Cornwall, with its fantastic coves, unspoilt sandy beaches, and breathtaking coastline. We are a few minutes away from the National Trust beach of Godrevy and its famous lighthouse.

The tranquil setting of Magor Farm campsite has hardly changed since we started taking campers in our bottom
field in the the mid 60's - apart from the installation of hook-up points down
one side of the field.

From the moment you arrive at
Magor Farm Camp Site, you will
experience and enjoy the calm, laid-back atmosphere. In fact, you won't even find
a reception office - just pitch your tent
park your caravan, and start your holiday
We will find you either that evening,
or perhaps in the morning when we
do our rounds.
You see, it's as simple as that!

Magor Farm Campsite

Magor Farm Campsite is a very relaxed site, with few rules. However, for the comfort and enjoyment of other campers, we prefer that you are considerate of others and keep noise to a minimum in the evenings.

If you have pets, please keep them under control at all times.

There is a washblock with 2 x Ladies sections with adequate toilet and shower facilities and a Gents section with showers at the rear of the block, and a further toilet and shower section at the front (opened only at busy times).

There is a wash-up area with two sinks and a spin drier.

The beaches in the south west of Corwall are unrivalled. Here are a couple which
are well worth a visit:

Chapel Porth: One of the most atmospheric beaches in Cornwall with it's steep dark cliffs either side of the beach. When the tide goes out the beach stretches for 2 miles on down to the next beach at Porthtowan.

This beach offers good surfing together
with a summer Lifeguard service, an excellent beach cafe, toilets, limited car parking and nothing else!

Godrevy and Gwithian sands is part of the large expanse of beach that stretches all the way from Hayle and it is popular with families, surfers, sand yachters, joggers and walkers alike. The section under the cliffs is tidal, but the sea goes out a fair way leaving lots of rock pools and there is a Lifeguard present in the summer.

Tehidy Country Park is just beside the campsite, and well worth a visit. It is freely open to the public every day of the year. It was once part of the great estate of the Bassett tin mining family and has a mixture of woodlands and lakes, ponds and cascades. There are 9 miles of paths to explore, as well as a visitor centre, a sensory trail and garden, beautiful carpets of bluebells in the spring, a bird hide and sculpture.

Flambards Theme Park, a family day out near Helston, features Rollercoasters, a Blitz Museum and a Victorian Village.

Paradise Park - Hayle Home of the World Parrot Trust. A great family venue if it's not beach weather. Also, owls, birds of prey, otters, penguins, and a farm full of animals. They have a wide variety of things to amuse and entertain you, whether you're young or just young at heart. (Dads - the pub at the park brews its own beer, and well worth a try!).

The Sands Bar

There are five toilet blocks on the Park. All have toilets, washing, washup, and showering facilities. All are tiled floor to ceiling. Hand dryers are installed. Sockets are available for shavers and hair dryers (we do not supply either).

All except one hot water systems have been replaced in the last two years with new systems which produce water on demand. As well as being more efficient and envirionmentally freindly these systems never run out of hot water (unless there is no gas). The control of shower temperature in the new system is also much better than in the older systems.

All toilet blocks have a disabled toilet facility. Our largest toilet block has a separate facility for showering a disabled person. This is a room large enough for a helper to work with a disabled person in showering and washing. Use of this facility is restricted.

The launderette is centrally located with limited parking. It has front loading washers and dryers and one heavy duty spinner. Irons are also available. Automatic detergent and fabric softener is supplied to the washers, though there are two machines without for those that want to use their own powder. These are 50p cheaper. The launderette is open from about 8.30am to 9.00pm.

The large Shop is well stocked and reasonably priced
