Located high above the Fowey Estuary, on the edge of Bodinnick village, Penmarlam Caravan & Camping Park enjoys spectacular views across the hills and valleys of Southern Cornwall
Most of the coastline of the
Fowey Estuary and around is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with rocky bays, picturesque villages, and is of course a boat lover's paradise
Bodinnick village is extremely picturesque and calm. You can walk into the village from the Park,
You may perhaps enjoy lunch at the Old Ferry Inn, part of which is built into the rock face. Daphne du Maurier's House "Ferryside" is across the road where she wrote "The Loving Spirit" set in nearby Polruan. The annual Daphne du Maurier Festival of Arts & Literature is held in Fowey each May.
There are many varied and interesting walks around, including the famous "Hall Walk", but plan carefully as some of the hills can be steep. From Bodinnick walk to Polruan crouched behind the head of the Estuary via the tiny hamlet of Pont where you can watch the hummingbirds, catch the passenger ferry to Fowey and return on the Bodinnick ferry which appears in records as far back as 1344 (though not the current ferryboat).
