Northern Panhandle

Tomlison Run State Park - New Manchester, WV
Located at the extreme tip of West Virginia's norther panhandle, Tomlinson Run provides a wide range of recreational opportunites to a large number of local and out-of-state visitors.

The park's 1,398 acres extend along the stream from which it gets its name, both of which are named for a family of early settlers, to within a mile of the stream's confluence with the Ohio River.

Roughly divided into two sections, the park offers a wilderness area of heavily forested hills, overhanging cliffs of sandstone and shale, and a profusion of wildflowers and fauna. Featured within the developed areas of the park are picnicking, boating, miniature golf, basketball and volleyball courts, swimming, a campground and a group camp. In addition, program events are scheduled from April through October.

North Bend State Park - Cairo , WV
North Bend State Park offers a multitude of recreational facilities in a beautiful pastoral setting. The fishing streams, hiking trails, abundant wildlife and excellent overnight accommodations are among this year-round park's most popular features. The park also features the 72 mile North Bend Rail Trail,which is a trail designed for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. The rail trail runs along the old B & O Railroad bed from Parkersburg, WV to Wolf Summit, near Clarksburg, WV.

Chestnut Ridge Campground - Morganstown, WV
Picturesque Chestnut Ridge Park offers visitors a variety of recreational facilities, activities and events and is located just 10 miles east of Morgantown, West Virginia, on Interstate 68 (exit 15 / Coopers Rock).  Chestnut Ridge Park is surrounded by Coopers Rock State Forest and West Virginia University Forest, creating a outdoor recreational area of over 16,000 acres.   Hike, bike, cross country ski, fish at one of the park's two stocked lakes (no license required), swim, paddleboat, toboggan, picnic, rock climb or listen to bluegrass music - there is lots to do!

Chestnut Ridge Park is open year round and is located 10 miles East of Morgantown West Virginia, off Interstate 68, exit 15.

Coopers Rock State Forest - Bruceton Mills, WV
Bands of rockcliffs line the Cheat River Gorge and provide numerous overlooks. The centerpiece among these is the main overlook, which furnishes a panorama of the gorge and distant horizons. A maze of enormous boulders and cliffs fascinates hikers, and the trails are especially lovely in June when the rhododendron and mountain laurel are in bloom. Several trails wind through forest valleys and over ridges, and a number of creeks beckon the explorer. Glade Run is dammed to form a 6-acre pond that is regularly stocked with trout. The observant hiker can hear and sometimes see squirrels, chipmunks, hawks, owls, turkeys, turkey vulture, songbirds, fox and deer throughout the forest.

Tygart Lake State Park - Grafton, WV
Paramount to the park, nestled in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains in scenic North Central West Virginia, is the 1,740-acre lake. Built by the Army Corps of Engineers in 1938, the park today boasts many features and facilities suited to the outdoor adventurer, family-ready for a quiet getaway, business group or small conference. Tygart Lake State Park is the perfect spot for your next family reunion.

Pinehill Campground - Hazelton, WV

Audra State Park - Buckhannon, WV
Before the turn of the century, West Virginians were drawn to the natural beauty of the Middle Fork River and its surroundings. This area is now Audra State Park, a heavily wooded riverside campground that continues to awe visitors.

Cedar Creek State Park - Glenville, WV
Nestled in the heart of West Virginia, Cedar Creek State Park's 2,483 lush acres are just 25 miles west of Interstate 79. This pastoral setting of rolling hills and wide valleys provides an ideal backdrop for a wide variety of recreational opportunities from cycling to pleasant family strolls.

One of the unique aspects of the campground is the check-in station, a restored log cabin which was formerly a Gilmer County historical landmark. Further adding to the charming ambience of the park, a reconstructed one-room schoolhouse has been erected as a testimonial to the early years of education. The schoolhouse has been faithfully restored complete with student desks, inkwells and a potbellied stove. Guided tours of this nostalgic attraction are offered on Saturdays during the summer months

Beech Fork State Park - - Barboursville, WV
Beech Fork State Park was officially opened in the winter of 1979 and offers 3,144 acres of some of the best recreation experience in the southwestern section of West Virginia.  Beech Fork is located 12 miles south of Huntington and Barboursville and is just a short drive from Charleston, Cincinnati and Lexington.  Developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the mid 1970's, Beech Fork Lake has owned up to its popularity for recreation boating, fishing and wildlife watching experiences.

Kanawha State Forest
- Charleston, WV
Located just seven miles south of Charleston, West Virginia, this forest's close proximity to the heavily populated Kanawha Valley has made it a recreational haven. Some of the state's most popular picnic areas are here, along with significant hiking, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing opportunities. Kanawha's swimming pool and playground attract families during the summer season, and the fully equipped campground is one of the few in the Charleston area.

The 9,300-acre forest is noted among naturalists for its diverse wildflower and bird populations. Rich cove forest sites provide nesting habitat for 19 species of wood warblers, a feature which draws birders from as far away as Canada.

Hatfield McCoy Outdoors Campground - Danville, WV
Nestled amidst the beautiful West Virginia Mountains, under the awe inspiring scenic wonder of the Great Pennacle Rock, the Hatfield McCoy Outdoors' Campground is located near a modern 4-lane highway (US Route 119) 15 minutes south of Charleston, WV and 10 minutes north of Madison, WV. Simply exit the 4-lane highway onto Tunnel Rd. in Julian, W.V. to access our facilities. Once you get to an Interstate Highway, it's 4-lane driving all the way!

Twin Hollow Campground - Gilbert, WV
Twin Hollow Campground & Cabins are located on a reclaimed surface mine on a beautiful mountain top.We are located approximately 2 miles from the town of Gilbert, West Virginia on route 52.

Our facilities have DIRECT ACCESS to the Browning Fork / Rockhouse Trails of the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System. By camping with us you will be able to park your RV and/or set up your tent, then ride the trails without having to load and unload your ATV. As an added convenience you are also allowed to ride the public road into the nearby town of Gilbert on your ATV.

Whether you are camping for relaxation or to ride the trails, you will enjoy the beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere at Twin Hollow Campground!

Chief Logan State Park - Logan, WV
Located in the heart of West Virginia's southern coalfields, Chief Logan State Park is four miles north of the town of Logan. The park and town share the name of the Chief of the Cayuga Tribe (also known as the Mingo tribe).

Today the 4,000-acre park is one of the most visited in the state park system. The park features a 25-site campground, modern restaurant, outdoor amphitheater, conference center and wildlife center. The recreation enthusiast can enjoy miles of hiking trails, a swimming pool with water slide, tennis, and miniature golf. Picnic shelters and playgrounds are found throughout the park.


Fox Fire Resort - Milton, WV
FOX FIRE is located just off I-64 at exits 28 and 20-B on Rt. 60, 3 miles west of Milton, WV. We are a 60 acre resort offering RV camping with 117 full hook-up sites equipped with 30 & 50 amp electric. Activities include public picnicking, fishing, waterslide, spray ground, swimming pools, jacuzzi, paddle boats, kayaks, putt golf, tennis, basketball and volleyball and holiday entertainment for the campers. The resort has been in operation since in 1978. FOX FIRE also offers hot air balloon rides and is a great place for company picnics and parties, reunions, church socials and other catered affairs.

Jim's Camping - Milton, WV

Krodel Park - Point Pleasant, WV
The Campground, open from April 1 through October 31, has full hookups available at 62 sites. All 58 have concrete runners and a patio with picnic table. A private bathhouse is in the camping area. Greenbrier Valley

Greenbrier River Campground - Alderson, WV

The GREENBRIER RIVER CAMPGROUND is one of only three campgrounds in the state of West Virginia that is nationally rated * * * * FOUR STARS * * * * !!! Our 8 acre campground is located right on the banks of the Greenbrier River and offers wooded and riverside camping for tents and all types of recreational vehicles. Each RV campsite averages 33' x 68' in size and all sites offer partial shading and a view of the river. Campers have access to a quarter-mile of river frontage owned by the campground. Great fishing for a variety of fish abound and we have the most desirable river swimming area on the river. The grounds are neat and well-maintained with gravel roads and well-lighted public areas. With the exception of some tent sites, all of our sites are equipped with electric, water, cable tv, and sewer service. This is a modern facility offering all the amenities you would expect from a FOUR STAR campground. We are open from April 15th through October 15th each year (weather permitting).

Located in the southeastern corner of the state near the border of Virginia, Greenbrier State Forest provides over 5,100 acres of heavily forested, mountainous terrain for outdoor recreation.  Magnificent views of the surrounding countryside are afforded by the impressive and imposing 3,280 high Kate's Mountain.

Camp Creek State Park - Camp Creek, WV
Camp Creek State Park was formed from Camp Creek State Forest in 1987, when a tract of approximately 550 acres was set aside to create this recreation area. Still adjacent to the park lies Camp Creek State Forest. Consisting of nearly 5,300 acres of forest land this property is managed to demonstrate sound forest management principles through the concept of multiple-use. A hunter will find many species of game including deer, native wild turkey, ruffed grouse and a variety of small game. Camp Creek, from which these areas take their name, is one of the best stocked trout streams in the state and can offer hours of fishing enjoyment.

Canaan Valley Resort - Fayetteville, WV
Canaan Valley Resort Campground offers 34 paved, wooded sites with full hookups. A comfort station with laundry and shower facilities are available. Moncove Lake State Park - Gap Mills, WV
Tucked away among the hills on the southeastern edge of the state lies Moncove Lake State Park. Located in the pastoral setting of Monroe County, Moncove Lake State Park seems worlds away from everyday realities. With all park facilities located within easy walking distance, this is the place to enjoy the simple things in life.

Moncove Lake contains 250 acres designated as a state park as well as an adjoining 500 acre Wildlife Management Area and 144 acre lake. Originally created in 1960, the Moncove Lake area was managed as Moncove Lake Hunting and Fishing Area until 1990, when 250 acres was set aside as a state park. The remainder of the land continues to be managed as a Wildlife Management Area.

New River Campground - Gauley Bridge, WV
New River Campground, situated on the New River, located on Route 60 East just above Gauley River at Gauley Bridge is just minutes from Kanawha Falls, Beckley Exhibition Mine, Contentment Museum Complex, Hawks Nest State Park, Whitewater rafting and the New River Gorge Bridge (the longest arch bridge in the world and the second highest in the U.S.) which holds Bridge Day on the 3rd Saturday in October.

Organ Cave Campground - Ronceverte, WV
We have RV accessible sites at our campground with electric and water connections. At this time, we do not have available shower houses and dump sites for RVs. In addition, campers staying during Rodeo weekends must pay an addition fee for arena events. The campsites are $16.00 per night, per site and with a limit of one family per site unless prior arrangements have been made with management. Stay a week and get one night free. Reservations are required in advance with credit card. Our campground is a 15 minute drive from the West Virginia State Fair grounds and prices during the State Fair may vary, please call for price variations.

Plum Orchard Lake - Scarbro, WV
Camping facilities include 23 rustic sites at Beech Bottom campground and 19 rustic sites above the dam. Each campsite has a tent pad, grill and picnic table. There is a centrally located restroom and wells for drinking water. Camping is permitted in designated areas only. Lake swimming, water-skiing and jet skis are prohibited.

Lake Stephens - Surveyor, WV
Lake Stephens is a 2300 acre County park with a 300 acre pristine mountain lake surrounded by 2000 acres of Hardwood Forest located in the heart of the Southern West Virginia Coal Country. The park is open April 15 to October 15 offering recreational opportunities such as hiking, camping, fishing, boating and access to local attractions and events. Nine miles west of Beckley, in Raleigh County West Virginia, and twenty-five minutes from the New River Gorge National Park, makes the park a great place to camp in an RV or tent and enjoy the culture and natural resources of the area.

Whittaker Campground is far back in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia. Located in Pocahontas County we are considered one of the biggest campgrounds in the county. We have over 100 sites with the majority of them having full hook up.

We are located two miles from the historical Cass Scenic Railroad which at one time was the biggest logging railroad east of the MIssissippi River. It has now converted over into a historical railroad and town. While staying on the campground you can take in all the scenery and even watch the old locomotives as they come around the campground heading toward there destination which is located 9 more miles up the mountain.

Blackwater Falls State Park - Davis, WV
Blackwater Falls State Park is named for the falls of the Blackwater River whose amber-colored waters plunge five stories then twist and tumble through an eight-mile long gorge. The "black" water is a result of tannic acid from fallen hemlock and red spruce needles. The falls are one of the most photographed sites in West Virginia.

Pocahontas Campground - Marlinton, WV
This campground includes 9 rustic campsites located in a beautiful grove of white pine trees. Located on Highway 92, approximately 14 miles south of Marlinton, WV. The campground is conveniently located near the highway. It provides a nice rest stop for an overnight stay, or for a longer outing.

Each campsite has a parking spur, picnic table, fire ring with a grill and a lantern hookup. Waste receptacles are provided. Several campsites also have a tent pad, although all sites are suitable for tent or trailer camping. Vault (pit) toilets and a hand pump well are located in the campground. There are no hook-ups available

Watogo State Park - Marlinton, WV
Watoga State Park is located in the mountains of Pocahontas County just 14 miles south of Marlinton, West Virginia. Seneca Shadows Campground - Seneca Rocks, WV

Seneca Shadows is the newest campground in the Spruce Knob-Seneca Rocks National Recreation Area. Many sites offer outstanding views of the 900 foot Seneca Rocks. This campground is a popular base camp for visitors while traveling through the Potomac Highlands.

Located approximately one mile east of Seneca Rocks, West Virginia on US Route 33.

Yokum's Vacationland - Seneca Rocks, WV
Yokum's Vacationland is located on a 1,000-acre farm on which we raise cattle. The North Fork of the Potomac River flows through our farm just behind the motel and restaurant, and offers our guests excellent year-round trout and bass fishing. In season, enjoy swimming in the river.
